I did a bit of this on a site clearance a while back.

We dug a long pit and bank on the site and used a big PTO driven fan to vent it. We had a 20 ton excavator with a full on demolition grapple to feed it. The driver kept a chunky stem on one side and used it to mash the brash into the fire. It went very quick once we got the hang of it. Once finished they incorporated the ash into the landscaping and back filled the pit.

I don’t know how you would go on “mashing down” in one of the proprietary burners, I don’t think the fire brick liners would last long.

Even green Rhodie is good brash for power station fuel. If you have a large volume of brash and within 50 miles of Liverpool then we would be interested in using it rather than having to hire an air burner.

If you don’t have access to a PTO fan you can always improvise. I had a play at gaffer taping some flexiduct to the chipper output.

It burned bigger bits than the chipper would have handled

thats a shame, its located at Stoke On Trent, - would imagine way over the 50 miles? will definately bear you in mind if nearer - thanks for contact - is this for a Drax Power Station type burner? - do you chip first? all good contact info for future use - cheers

Hi there, as part of my consultancy work I organize biomass projects nationwide.

I can facilitate the removal of any woody material form almost any site nationwide and in most cases can organize some payment for you depending on volumes.
