I'm thinking of buying a new out door wood boiler from the USA, can any one tell me if I would have to pay and import duty or taxes on such an item??

Many thanks Dave :001_smile:

From the hours spent on the phone to HMCE tax is determined on what the item imported is made out of, I was going to import some arb kit from the states and some PHC gear...........

Could my brother in law (who lives in California) send me such an item as a gift???

You may get away with it but I think there's a limit on how much a 'gift' can be.... I think they're pretty wise to it these days.

Smaller items seem to get through fine as gifts but larger items I'd say not.

Probably right there Rob, my mate got me model aircraft engines from the US, slightly different to a heating boiler i guess!
