It went back in August for their video shoot.
Look carefully at the sticker under the exhaust.

Good news is they are sending it back to me to continue testing. emoji106.pngemoji106.pngemoji106.png

Wonder why they didn't use a new one for their video. ?

Not big on Stihls, but it is tempting if its performance is as good as you say it is.

@Rough Hewn

Out of interest, did u put it straight to milling or did u put a few tanks through it cross cutting and some easier work first?

Did a load of cross cutting and free hand milling with it fir about 5 tanks.
Then went with the 60” mill for a few more tanks then went big.

You think it would harm going straight to milling work with the 30” - 41” bars they come with? Obviously your 60”+ bar would be some serious set off pain potentially.

The video was made before the final production saw was released.
It was the only one in the uk.
The performance is very similar to the 880.
(Identical on paper) except for fuel consumption.
It just feels soooo different.
(I though it was quicker to rev up and it felt like it had higher rpm).
I really like the 30” bar for cross cutting.
If I could I’d get 2. One for milling and one fir felling and cross cutting.

I’d put 5 tanks worth of cross cutting small stuff 12-18” before going bigger.
Beds in about 12-15 tanks though.

Oh i see. So how did it come about getting to test it? Did they contact you with a request to test it under condition of privacy? Very cool getting to play with one for months, while other people were still speculating on what it'd be like.

Yeah, i've not used an 880, only my 3120 but that's far from run in and quite underwhelming at the moment, only had about 3 tanks through it. Would like to have a go with one that size with the additional performance.

You better get two then, we all know swapping bars is bullshit. ?

Last November I got a call one morning from stihl.
Woke up the next day, had to check my phone to make sure I hadn’t dreamt it.
Said it would be shipped mid January.
By the end of February I’d heard nothing.
Then a call.
Our man will be over Friday!!!!!
Yes I had to agree to silence, but no nda.
Yes I was pissing myself at the flagrant speculation and complete bullshit which got posted on the internet.
Couldn’t say anything.
Did get a bit paranoid someone would photograph and post it. Never happened.
It was really kind of stihl to give me this opportunity.
(And a hell of a lot of fun too)

The 3120 is an excellent saw,
very good for milling.
It will take quite a bit to bed in, but somewhere between 10 and 15 tanks you should notice an increase in torque.
Get a big bar and a mill and you’re off!

Yeah, i bought it for milling mostly. Only used it a few times to cut large stumps low and ring up a big conifer. Feels like a workout ringing up with it!
