Sadly, police see plant theft as a low priority crime. They will not investigate as half the time, it involves raiding a travellers site, and more often than not, the plant is off abroad in a shipping container.

I am surprised your mates 6 tonne digger got as far as the motorway on an ifor William's before the suspension snapped!

Yep your right there, but the law is the law, i thought it was for every one but it seems not to be like that, 2 other thefts i know of where treated all most the same way as the 6 tonne Kubota, one was a 2,5 tonne machine where the Police wernt bothered one bit, untill the owner spotted it on a traverllers site still sign written in his name then they said they would talk to the insurance company ??, and another one of late was a Volvo 2.8 tonne machine that went walk about 7 yrs ago, then the owner identified it on a ebay add as there was a addition to the machine he made and fitted for his own purpose, this machine has just come back to the UK from Spain and where ever it has been it aint been doing much as it went with 2300hrs on it and has come back with 3100 hrs on it, the owner of this machine has had the police involved and they have been very very helpful and we cant think why ! only thing we can come up with is the officers involved may be thinking they might get a trip to Spain (at our expense again) to investigate where and who it was purchased from,,,

Its a great idea. But there is many issues that would come with it. Machines out on hire for example. Plus the cost in admin to keep the system up to date would be loaded onto parts prices. Can imagine the swear words when the contractor is desperate for a part just before courier dispatch time and computer says no....

[emoji106]That’s what I was getting at
