I know Yamaha called that system, Auto Lube, first bike i so that on was a FS1E 50 DX some time around 76/77, but there was a mate of my dads that was in to the Scott,s and he educated me one evening about the Scott being 2 stroke, water cooled and having 2 tanks 1 for petrol and 1 for the 2 stroke oil, and at the time i thought the Suzuki GT750 water cooled, Kettle, was a first but i was only about half a century out,

The clue's in the name. Prefer mi old guns to old foreign bikes.

Had bikes and brakes, picked up enough stitches to fashion a blanket - then I grew up

At least one member proffered an 'on topic' reply, which was appreciated, rather than hijacking it.

I did post my thoughts on your strimmer, probably worth looking at.....

"When you test the spark, do it in subdued light and pull the engine over hard as sometimes, it isn't easy to see the spark. If no spark, try a new plug before trying a new coil as coils will cost a bit.

If you do get a spark, I would service the OEM carb with new diaphragms, gaskets, gauze strainer and bulb.....I would also replace all fuel lines and filter. It is usually the fuel system that fails on old strimmers as fuel filters get gunked up and fuel lines rot."!

It looked like a hedge trimmer, those engines usually had a coil and a small square electronic pack, normally an Ida unit, held with a single screw somewhere on the machine.

Yup, you are correct but old two strokes are old two strokes usually with hardened diaphragms, degraded fuel lines and buggered fuel filter.  

Seen those little spark modules on very old stihls before!
