What on earth possessed timber wolf to try mate a metal inlet to a thin plastic tank?

Couple of years ago.... Rainbows all over the floor, tried a new cap still the same. It appears the fuse ing of the plastic to metal inlet is no good!

Day off and drive to warrington 110mile round trip to get a fresh tank fitted.

Back at work still the same. Fitters cam up and fitted a new tank again.... Fine for 18mth ISH.... Then the other day diesel on a block paved drive.... Cleaned tank top etc and checked this morn and leaking again.

There was nowt wrong with the old metal tanks.

Any one know of some sealant to seal around the top of the tank? Cheers

If you have a secondhand spare tank (incase it goes wrong) cut the neck off completely and fit a fresh filler neck yourself, we have done it on old plant stuff at work by drilling and bonding a filler kit to the tank held in place by rivets and some times bolted depending on size off filler, i.e if ya can get your hand in to hold the nuts.

I used JB weld (I think it was called) on two plastic fuel tanks with great success.

Yes hoping to find a sealant. Leave fuel level low.... Giver it a good brake cleaner and blow with airline then stick some gunk on it to seal it hopefully.... Machines only 3 1/2 year old and it's it's 3rd tank :0

Does the insert/filler neck spin in the tank Chris?
