Rigging hub

The width of the slopes were about 20 meteres. The hub sat right in the middle. We had 9 of these sections to do. A nice feature was not having to use any connecting links. Plus the system was easily repeatable. We also never had to untie and re-rig. We just through the hole thing in a large wheeled duffle bag. We could tear down one slope and rig another in about one half hour.

Similar to Tod's idea - use one of those hubs to install a highline/climbing system from the ground. Gord used a similar set-up on a storm damage job recently.

Very high anchor point was needed to safely dismantle a storm damaged hung-up Western Hemlock-nasty break in stem - tall trees close enough for the highline to be installed over the damaged tree -

pics of highline/set-up using metal loop which could be replaced with the hub -

Link to the thread at Treebuzz - scroll half-way down, the pics on the original thread are crystal clear, a tall tree in a tricky situation, worth reading the thread and seeing the pics if anyone's interested in rigging.

There's also good pics on page 2 of the thread

those could of been done with a rigging plate just as well though

apart from the initial dmm ones

i liked them and thought of uses but for me none that i could not do with my rigging plate

if i had neither and wanted one i think i would go hub

mainly for the rounded corners for tying rope onto
