BIG crane job!

So were you there to cut any trees that may have been in in the way????

I'm there to cut any trees in the way of lifting operations, to clear any trees required on third party land to allow access for cranes, plant etc and then I am also there to clear trees over the track and hanging down onto the track between carrbridge and aviemore, and between carrbridge and moy.

The problem today was that the rail crane needs to be detached from the engine so that we can take the engine down the line to clear trees.. unfortunatley the diesel has frozen and they are having problems getting it to run, so I have been on stand-by all day waiting for them to heat the diesel and get the crane running.

The fuel tank is double skinned and bunded so having a heater on the tank isn't doing much use..

So... I decided as I had full site access to take some pictures!

Nice one mate.:001_cool:

Do they have that mad alien monster machine that cuts trees up your way, or is it all done by guys like yourself?

It was a machine basically designed by two mad hillbilly tractor hire brothers down here, who i think had a massive line clearance contract for years, and sold the design / machine to railtrack (or equivalent). I saw it one night and it was like an alien spaceship. That was near coventry that i saw it.

At least, thats what i have been told, but i could be way off the mark.:blushing:
