We've only had 8" here as we're by the sea, but a few miles inland at Duns where my office is there's 18" level in the car park, where its drifted its much deeper still, the council are using excavators and JCB's to pile it up in big heaps all over the place. Its seriously cold too, yesterday i was picking carrots with a pick axe!:001_smile:

10 inches Andy i have only got 6:lol: Joking aside the gritter just came past and he had the plough down. The wind is on my back door i will have to get a curtain up:001_smile:

Had 2 gritters with ploughs up go through while I was in the pub, and they werent gritting either. Think they just push the drifts back at bad spots. According to one gritter driver I spoke to, they are now mixing urea with sand for the roads, which will be good for the tinwork on your motors!

It's laughable really.. you'd like to think england was made of sterner stuff than grinding to a halt and crying over a little bit of snow!!

Couldn't agree more. Spoke to friends in Newcastle yesterday; they have

16" lying on their garden, we've got 5". Last week and next I'll be in Oxfordshire where there's about 9" of lying snow and you're right - all the yahoo is about the South grinding to its halt.

But watching all those BMWs and Mercs is good entertainment value.

Steve Bullman; those General Grabbers are proving their worth now eh?!
