I had a customer whose neighbour had an Alianthus, when I mentioned the seedlings in her garden/path/patio she really went off on one. Apparently she was a bit fed up of digging them out.

Probably due to a recently cut down specimen in the locality.

I've suspected it of doing that Poplar thing of popping up all round a recently felled tree. Is that your experience?

Yes, only done a few though.

Poisoning  straight after felling is my SOP on those. Then grinding once you’re sure it’s perished.

They sucker and self set readily without chopping the mother tree down too, there just needs to be one and the right conditions and every garden in 100 yards will have a carpet of them coming up!

Tree of Heaven is an invasive weed. Unless you like it and want lots more of it you would be well advised to get rid of it now.

I’m working on the smaller ones. There are 10 of them all in a row along my fence at least 50 feet high. I moved in 3 months ago so they were obviously already there. To top it off, there is massive English Ivy growing up them.
