Another boot topic..... ??‍♂️

Morning all,

I’m in the early stages of researching some new boots. I’ve had 3 pairs of Haix over the years and been happy with them. Had Protector Pros, Protector Ultra, and currently using the Protector Forests. I’ve been looking at the Protector Alpins as my next potential pair, and wondered if anyone had them and could share their experience? A fella I work with just got some Sip Grizzly 2s and they looked decent also. I work in forestry, never step foot in a harness or climb.

One issue I seem to currently be having is I’ve developed an annoying and slightly painful lump on the side of my foot, near my little toe. Photo attached! I’ve never had this problem previously, but wondered if the current boots I have might have contributed to it. I’ve had the Protector Forests for nearly a year.

Morning mate.

I said it was a bunion! And my know it all other half proclaimed it to be a corn?! I’ve noticed it steadily growing, but it’s never bothered me until recently when I started

prodding and poking it. Now it’s a bit tender!

I like the look of Pfanners too.

Must admit in a similar position ( minus bunion ?

Bought a pair of Stihl leather boots at start of year ( not sure I like all thisgoretex linings now for feet sweating in summer) but not very comfy, possibly should off had a size smaller but all they had in stock.

Still using my Mendel airstreams, bloody brilliant boots, really comfy, just came off a steep skyline job and bar bother with the mendls.

dunno how old could be 3 or 4 years of decent use althou been looked after/treated.

The 1 problem just to low, it doesn't take much of a puddle, rut, burn or swamp hole to be over the top.

But tempted to buy another set and save stihls for wet jobs.

This lockdown not ideal for buying boots, personally I'd rather pay slightly more but try them on.

Nothing worse than I'll fitting boots as I discovered with my stihls ( night in haste as back to a wet site next day again and sick off wet feet)

I am the same, there is so much variety in boots that you definitely need to try them on. Traditionally I have had to avoid Meindl as they were too wide, but I might have to get them if my weird foot growth continues!

I’ve always found Meindls to narrow.
