MS660 Tank breather leaking fuel

Hi all, One of my MS660s is an older model and has the older 'flapper' style tank breather valve. It appears to be intact but any time the saw is tilted with the pull start side facing down, quite a bit of fuel is leaking from the breather.... is this a common problem? Do the flapper valves stop working after a bit even if they are still in one piece?

I've attached a couple of pics fyi

You can see from my screen shot, from L&s what you need, yes that orange duckbill thing can leak and I would change it if you were ordering parts.. although there is a different newer type breather #3 and the grommet #2  in the pic, if it will fit yours I’ve no  idea

and you can see a lot of things out of stock,,?

Thanks for that - I had wondered the same - thankfully I also have a newer model 660 so I was able to compare the two. Unfortunately it looks like they are not 'swappable' due to the older model having a different mount for the breather valve. (see pic attached)

Sometimes rubber components like that can look ok but not work properly - I need to place an order anyway, so I'll add on a couple of them and see if it fixes it. I'll let you know if that sorts it.?

Hey Guys, just a small update - eventually the new flapper valve arrived and I swapped it for the old one. This has fixed the problem and it doesn't leak at all now.

It seems that even if the valve looks visually ok, it can deteriorate to the extent that it doesn't function properly any more.
