From the two options you have provided one would need to ask if you are looking to get into tree work specifically or just general access climbing.

If you're looking to get into tree work then the 2nd website details you have provided are not applicable, as the kit is being touted towards IRATA access climbers. Think recovering the millennium dome not climbing Mrs Muggins ash tree to remove a broken limb or save her pussy!

If it's tree climbing specifically you wish to purchase kit for then you would be better buying the items you need separately that suit your personal size; weight; climbing style and experience. Generally speaking a ready made "kit" sold by a retailer may not give you everything you may need or include a load of bumpf you'll never use or touch again once you taken it of the packaging it came in.

From personal experience, I would be hesitant to recommend Northern ARB Supplies. Not always very responsive to orders/queries/deliveries/complaints/refunds etc. and have given up using them myself a while ago. Found the likes of F R Jones; Honey Bros; Buxton's to be much better to deal with and offer good service and value for money for tree climbing kit.

Buy separate bud, ideally go to a shop and try some harness’ on as they all fit different, a bit like shoes...
Basic shopping list
Harness

5 triple lock krabs - only need 3/4 but worth having a spare.

11.7 ish dia rope, Honey bros have an end of roll section on the website. can pick up bargains

3 prussic cords, eye 2 eye is easier and neater when learning. one is a spare

3m lanyard or rope offcut to make your own

helmet

Job done

Spot on thanks mate, I'll have a browse on those sites.

Eventually looking at getting into tree work, im thinking start low and slow. Unfortunately due to occurring circumstances training person to person is impossible so I'm thinking I'll give it ago.

Is SRT a good way to learn the ropes?

Thanks

Where are you based?

Climbing arborist has some good videos on the basics, so binge on youtube to his stuff, lots of bad technique if you just search tree climbing.

learn some basic knots, again climbing arborist is a good resource.

Find a decent tree, with a strong limb maybe 20ft up, throw a rope over or use a ladder if you must, start close to the trunk to use your feet to help.

With your knot skills secure one end to a krab, clip it to your harness. Tie a 3 wrap prussic 2 if you are light (under 65kg ish) and attach that to the krab with the other rope already on it. That’s a basic climbing system without learning the old school 3 knot system, which i found didn’t like modern ropes...

start silly low, get a few feet off the floor and descend again. slowly go higher. get hip thrusts good, you will hurt the next day!

SRT is ace but only really useful on taller trees, and requires more gear, ascenders etc so is more speedy.
