Specsavers Opticians Newport - Spytty Road | Specsavers U

Mmmm yeah the wet beam behind is neither Ash or Poplar.  Looks like Cedar of Leb to me.  And yes Specsavers Spytty are my opticians of choice...  Told me my eyes are fine I just need longer arms and brighter lights.... ;)

I'd obviously have to see the end cut off, but those bark occlusions just hint at walnut possibly. The bark just isn't quite right for ash.

I only milled (I think) 4 or 5 walnut in all my time in Scotland and each of them had bark occlusions like that.

The pic of the pieces in the trailer was taken this morning on way out the house very early and it was indeed drizzling. The beam in Background is Douglas Fir. The later pics were of pieces milled on a  nice dry day a couple of weeks ago. Definitely from same tree as I collected it where it had been felled a good while back, interesting to hear the difference of opinion.

If it is the same tree, then they are Ash.

Drizzle?  It has been gorgeous here in Wales for days, well years actually.  It's grim up North!
