My little JAPA 2/4 way  splitting wedge frpm my processor has managed to bend itself halfway up the main part of the shaft,  have tried to straighten it using a drivall and a telehandler without joy,  Fuelwood say do not heat it as it makes the steel brittle,   so I need someone with a 100 ton or so press,  anyone any contacts ?.

Thanks in advance,

I think R J Fukes near us have got a press but that's mid Wales. Is there an agri dealer near you with a decent workshop?

I understand that heating to straighten will affect the metal, but bending it back without heating will also leave a zone which has been strained both ways.

I would have thought heat and bend, air cool rather than quench to avoid making it brittle, and weld on some plates to strengthen if there is room. Otherwise new part required.

Pics would help of course.
