Logstore

Happy sunday folks

Just had a new logstore built to store and season my firewood. Its about 4 by 3 meters in size. Now a lot of my logs are different in size so doesnt stack very well. My plan was get a load of pallets and build squares out them. This would make stacking much easier preventing stacks falling down and also i could stack the pallets squares on top of each other so i can stack to the ceiling allowing me to store more wood. Can anyone see anything wrong with this? Or other methods to stack logs different in size. Many thanks.

I would just put walls in front to back, to create a series of bays about 1m wide. Logs chucked in will mound up, you just need to line up a little bit at the front to create a wall but this is dead easy as the logs rest on the side walls.

This way you can also rotate stock a bit if you empty out a bay completely before refilling.

Would agree split the shed into bays to have 1 for use 1 for seasoning and 1 getting filled for seasoning. This ony works if your wood usage is 1/3 or less of shed volume otherwise build a bigger shed

In my mind you need a shed split into 3 sections;

1 is being filled

1 is being emptied

And 1 is full to the brim, seasoning
