grippers=i would just tack on very thin pieces of wood every 18 inches, say half inch x inch. just to let your feet get a grip. if there is wheel chair access then keep them shallow but they make the world of diference, the slippyness is lack of maintenance, simples..or you can paint the bridge and throw sand down, its just like sand paper..

 

Ahh I see! Right may have to have an experiment, an added complication is the bridge is also used by horses so whatever is put on needs to be tough- I'm wondering how long a thin strip of wood would put up with metal horseshoes. The sand idea, re-done regularly, might be a way forward, ta!

Thanks for the link niftysteve, that looks like an option.

 

Darren, I'm uncertain. The LA paid a significant portion of the (horrifyingly expensive!) construction and the rest was paid by the previous owner. I will be contacting them to check this out before I actually do anything to it!

Good idea. If you do anything to the bridge and someone has a accident you may by libel.
