put my new swivel krab on my sequoia harness today and my spiderjack, oh the simplicity of it all, looking forward to using it now. who else is using one?:001_smile:

thought about it a few times, how good are they when your limb walking laying your chest into the rope for suppport as you go out, you know that situation when your long prussick is hard to reach from! is it too close to your body for ease of maipulation?

Not used a spiderjack but do use a lockjack sometimes. Very nice piece of kit but do take a bit of getting used to.

They can be very fast when decending and a bit jumpy when you first try and figure out how much pressure to apply.

Happy climbing though mate im sure you'll love it:biggrin:

i havent used it yet but i cant see why it wont be awesome, bob gave me some pointers on it and aswell as a lockjack sport, but i liked the simplicity of the spider and the way you release seemed more forgiving than the lock jack, and after seeing dean fly about the tree at justins show, not worrying about slack it looked great, almost like free climbing.

well so far with my lock jack i have not had any problems with limb walking and find that the lock jack sits just where i want it but this was only possible because i could adjust the sliding d on my harness , the only down side that i have found it that it does not work to well on wet ropes and becomes verry jurkey

its only hard to reach because you havent taken a shorter one for around the crown, thats where the vt is good, stick it on a sling or make up a little adjuster so you can alter the length from your harness point, but i dont climb enough to master the vt, and i dont like the tending the slack hanging from one arm, and i must admit, looking at the thin hitch cord and little fishermans knots makes me a bit nervy, metal is definately the easiest way i reckon, time will tell:001_cool:

When ive seen people climb on one or the other it does look very effort less, I had ago of a lock jack about 4 years ago, Only messing around at dinner time one day, Just going up and down, Only to about 25ft, Proper cacked my pants when i realised its all or nothing if you pull the wood bit too hard :blushing: First time i came down soooooooo fast, i hit the deck and landed on my arse, Everyone else thought it was well funny :sneaky2::lol:

I think with or without a lockjack we all have a similar case of arse thump that made others laugh! I know how much that can hurt! ego as well as backside!
