blakes hitch vs prusik opinions?

Agreed, Blakes better than Prussik. Both utterly evil once coated with Pine resin etc.

 

ZigZag and other mechanical devices cope better with resin, but did a Pine the other week that still made these jam. Cleaned them with meths, ropes in washing machine.

Helical hitch is the bomb if you want to stick to old school climbing style.

What variation of the helical do you use?  When I first came across it, it appeared to be a double eye hitch, and was called the Penberthy.  Saw in On Rope later that it was a single eye.
