Some help needed here, the brake tension spring broke on my Stihl 036QS . I’ve replaced it and it all seems to be fitted correctly but now the chainbrake handle is being overpowered by the quick stop. When the usual brake is engaged, the QS still forces the saw to drive the chain , albeit slower as its forcing the clutch to turn whilst on break??
I’m not sure if I’m missing something obvious.

I was tempted to disconnect the QS cable but I’ve since read it’s all or nothing as far as chain brake, one element won’t work without the other ?
PS yes the chain is loose, it’s a carving bar ?

Can anyone send me a workshop manual?

i think I need to see the correct configuration of all the chainbreak elements including the QS parts, so I can compare with my saw .

I’ve taken a vid of it running, please see the link at the beginning of my post.

 Thanks,

Si

I sent you the sm for the 034\036 +QS

you will have to see if you have fitted it correctly, the bits you need ie handle and chain break of the QS are in the sm.

other than this this I can’t help any more. I'm the sort of person that has to see it then follow the sm step by step

edit: let me know if I sent the sm correctly and if it helps you fix it.

as it just may help others in you shoes at a later date ?
