I dont think the fire brigade even cut up wind blown on the road around here let alone get a mewp out.

People always want you to take away a load of crap, a few times now Ive been up a tree in the back garden and then when Ive come down and gone out the front there's been a pile of wood sat behind the chipper with nails in!:sneaky2:

A small point to bear in mind is, i notice there has been almost 1000 views on this thread now, but no one has taken you up on your offer.

I have large trees to take down for one, and i dare say there are others too who have, but i feel i would rather reward someone properly for that sort of work, mainly so we dont end up in an even more cut throat situation than the arb world is already in.

I was hoping someone would say this, and i'd be a little concerned if someone did take you up on your offer, ok it may be genuine a good job for a good company but there may be others who will get you in to do a job beyond there means making money of your skill.

I hope you get your fix Gavin and that you get justly rewarded for it.

please dont patronise me, i would gladly help any of you

Please don't patronise us, do you really think we need your help??

I wouldn't allow anyone on site who's in it for the adrenaline. This is a proffessional business, there is work to be done and it gets done withough any yee har ing or adrenalin inducing risk taking. If you want adrenalin go skydiving at the weeknends or something else like everyone else does.

The problem with doing work for nothing is that you have "nothing" to lose. If you screw up you could walk away from it. I'd rather employ someone who needs the money and is careful in there work in order to ensure further money in the future.

I think I know where this chap is coming from. Back in my earlier days I used to get such a buzz from a big take down I would think "wow I had so much fun I would do that for free". It was only when I was travelling lots and surfing good waves that I could get the same buzz.

Now I still like taking on big jobs because I enjoy the challenge and the guys enjoy it (who doesn't if we are honest) but I certainly wouldn't do it for free. In fact I charge more as I know that I have more kit out and its working hard.

I don't know you from from Adam, but the impression if you are getting such a buzz that you'll work for free its because you are lacking experience. I think the adrenaline is coming because you are pushing your comform zone and know you are taking risks. An experienced climber should be able to take a tree down calmly and safely. If your on a white knuckle ride I think your doing something wrong.

Well put!

I know where he's coming from too, and hopefully he knows that having a bit of fun at his expense is par for the course on Arbtalk. If your going to put yourself out there as the great big tree taker downer for nothing then you will get poked at!
