Struggling with recruitment

Hi there,

 

We're advertising for an additional Arboricultural Consultant and are really struggling to get applications. We tried before Christmas and didn't get much of a response and our second round of advertising isn't proving any better. Having looked at other jobs being advertised (there aren't many) we're offering a decent salary and conditions so we're wondering if there really is a lack of suitable candidates out there. If you're an employer have you also struggled to fill similar roles?

If you're an employee, which job sites do you look for jobs on? 

Anyone - ideas for how we can increase the response rate?!

To fill your person spec and get someone decent I think you need to up the ££.

Thanks Andrew - we've looked at other roles currently being advertised and they're offering less money but asking for higher qualifications and similar experience. We therefore thought it was a decent offer!

To echo Andrew, it's a lot of experience and qualification for the money offered. I'm not saying that the salary isn't reasonable, only that £30k doesn't go very far these days, or come close to freelance/self-employed rates for a similar role.

That's a fair point Big J - I think we'll have to rethink and negotiate on interview.

Definately hard to find person with good range of knowledge AND skills, trouble with that - is once you have found them you have to pay them. I cover a lot of ground and wear many hats here, so I expect the brass in pocket. K
