I'll be remembering my maternal grandfather, Claude Francis Alvis(Frank), who saw the morning of D-Day from his place aboard HMS Speedwell, a minesweeper clearing the channels off the beaches. I never got to hear his story as I was only 1 when he passed but my Mum can remember him speaking about seeing bodies floating past his ship.

Thanks @felixthelogchopper   my mate at 95 ( 6th Para) just gone over to see Normandy celebrations, with his surviving pals. Just put up a plaque fr our lines here. K
