Collecting logs

I am thinking about buying a double axle car trailer (rating 2400kgs) to collect logs from gardens, farms, public areas, etc. I'm planning to use a winch from the front of the trailer to pull logs up a ramp (at the back) and onto the trailer. I want to be able to move large timber (whatever weight the trailer can take, up to 1.5ton). Has anyone experience in this area? If so, advice? Thanks

Parbuckle the logs up ramps off the side as F2F says - you can roll really big timber up that way. You'll need a redirect for your winch off the opposite side of the trailer - then take the cable over the top of the log and back under it and secure the hook to the trailer near the redirect. It is amazing how big a piece you will roll.
