What alternatives is there to a BC1000 basically what other heavy duty 10inch machines are there to choose from?

Bandit are heavy duty and im guessing schliesing would do 10 inch an above machines, A mate of mine has just refurbed a Bandit 90 (9 inch) and its an animal!!

Schliesing would probably be a good alternative, and maybe the bandito. Thing is with the Vermeers i've used they say 10inch and mean it you could probably fit 11 or 12inch through been a while since i've used the BC1000 in anger, others say 9inch and really mean no more than 9.

The only problem i have with the BC1000 is the single feed roller it is a nice big roller but doesn't always pull the brash in as good as a twin design, maybe i'm just spoilt.

Other than that little niggle its a great machine.

A couple of years ago i used a smaller vermeer, Cant remember the model, Think it was only 6 inch or so tho, Was very impressed with it at the time, the most tank like 6 inch chipper ive ever use, looked like they made them to last, Cant comment on any other models as ive never used them but they do "look" very very well built!!

Vermeer= overengineered, very reliable and easy to get spares for. B-trac engineering are the UK agents, and i have yet to find a more helpful and knowledgeable company. Go for it. Excellent machines, cant praise them enough.

 

 

I’ll second that, our machine is still quite new so can’t really comment on long term reliability. The over engineering is exactly why I went for that model (the stress hardly ever kicks in) it’ll eat anything you can physically fit into the feed-rollers.

….but it got resolved very quickly. It’s a heavy machine which needs 3 people to push it down tracks etc. but the sheer chipping performance far outweighs this small negative. Go for it!

I prefer to only have one feed roller- it gets tangled up far less than machine with two IME, and much less crap to clean up under the machine at the end of the day.

All personal preference tho, and there isnt a lot in it.

Thank u all for the input! As always "ARBTALK" the honest and not so humble opinion from the tradesmen! I will pass this on, and hopefully i can have a go.... i'll let u know how it goes.

BC1000's are awesome machines! our one even survived eating a rope that our groundie fed it and it caused no damage. the groundie survived too . . . .just.

Me too!

 

I`ve got a 1000xl. Its the second one I`ve had. 935 before that. I wouldn`t consider any other make of chipper.
