Hope this is in right place! Want to get a small hour meter for above chipper and would appreciate recommendations. Have seen them mentioned here previously but can’t find the posts now. Many thanks.

On other petrol engined site equipment I have used cheap ebay electronic tachometers. Sorry can't post a link...
When you do a search you'll find a few marine rated ones.

It worked alright on my petrol splitter as you can change from revs to hours. It just needs the wire wound round the plug lead / ignition circuit.

No electrical connection as such, all done by induction.

Used mine to gauge oil change cycle.

I put on on mine when I bought it. I got a cheap on off eBay that just needed a power and earth wire then you wrapped the signal wire around the HT lead. Took 10 minutes to fit. Did RPM and hours.

Thanks everyone, much appreciated. I think it was the TinyTach I saw mentioned here before. Just need hours for oil change and if we sell the chipper on later. We have a small 2.5 acre woodland so it won’t be doing a huge numbers of hours.

Well yes, these tachs are a real good thing to have on the lawn mower, generator, well anything petrol and a place where you can fit it. Chainsaws have very few places, but you will be surprised how quick the running hrs add up

And for those 4 strokes you can do the oil change accordingly ?

Edit, remember to get the correct tach, if using for a chainsaw. You need the 20k  otherwise it will reset.

There was a thread not long ago where I explained how I know ?
