Sorry, you’d have had to have seen the movie ‘bird box’ to get the joke.  But basically she goes everywhere blindfolded and uses a piece of string to find her way back

Have you tried doing a letterbox through the hinge? I fell mostly Ash and was getting a lot of barber chairs. The letterbox sorted it all out.
Yes and it went sideways on the first tree. But to be fair i was trying to get it to swing. I was more concerned about the flying branches as the tree comes down. Tall thin wippy ash can ping a broken branch a long way.

I am making a conscious effort to keep my thumb under the handle at all times, as i am sick of my EV telling me off .

Sorry not seen Bird box, hence my bewilderment.
