Looking to buy a moisture meter but not sure what’s worth spending on one we have used a cheap sthil one for past few weeks and have noticed it’s about as accurate as licking the wood and guessing. We sell around 10t a year any body with any recommendations

The one I have (cheap) uses an electrical measurement between a pair of probes so if the outside of the wood is dry but the centre is wet then it will read dry.  I have read that the way to test properly is to split the log and then measure the newly exposed timber, but I have not tried this.

To be honest I just use a cheap stihl, it's just a rebadged generic one though, I don't think they make their own. I prefer the older, more square one but they all measure the same way as far as know so the only truly accurate way is by weight.

There are very expensive hammer in ones but you get a good enough idea from experience and the cheap ones.

proper way to do it is wood at room temp, split the wood, measure on fresh split face....and it makes a difference if across or with the grain but i forget which is correct!  oh and jam the pins in firmly.
