I bet you run Vista? My Mrs has a laptop that runs Vista and it was unusable when she asked me to have a look at it, (I'm banned from touching it normally, which is why it ended up running so slow) Anyway, I cleared a lot of the start up nonsense off it, stopped it downloading updates about every five seconds and also down loaded this excellent program Glary Utilities | Glarysoft also this smart defrag program Defragment Disk | Smart Defrag | Free&Server Defragmenter Download | Defrag Server 2008/2003/2000 RAID Supported! and ran them, it may help you.

You may need a registry mechanic program. Do you have a torrent downloader like bitlord?. If you do btjunkie.com have some great free downloads. Even though your laptop is only 4 months old if you scanned it with a registry mechanic you would easily find over 100 problems/faults in your comps registry. I scan mine every other day and find over 10 each time. Hope this helps.

Ok.

Start / Windows menu >

Control panel >

Sound >

You should then have a box with the different devices.

Pick the one which looks most like 'built in speakers', click configure and make sure that's the active device.

Other than that, sorry, I got nothin'!
