willow failure.

What an amazing morning. No rain for starters and a really misty start to the day. Its the best i've seen Richmond Park for quite a while. Breakfat wa staken looking towards Pen Ponds......watching the sun come up and the mistly slowly disperse. It was magical....and the fried egg and chorizo roll with coffee tasted even better than usual.

 

And so to Beverly Brook to clear up a fallen willopw which had succumbed to the ravaging Ganoderma. Pulled the short straw so it was me donning the waders. Pretty straight forward job. Sling, rope, landrover.....cut pole tow out.....next. The willow had formed a dam for the best part of a week so plenty of detritus but the environment made up for any negative aspects........

Thanks David.......we pollard around 20 most winters. Will be having a few weeks pollarding towards the end of january. Can be hard days but very rewarding and as long as its not peeing down always a good day.
