I've got stacks of solvent weld, but I doubt it would withstand the heat so close to the heater. I asked Vesp, sorry I meant watched YouTube, where someone tried the same with a Y piece and it melted it.

Can you devise a tin heat shield to keep it away from heat?

It's something to look into. I can't believe that I can't find the name of the material used in the pre made T/Y pieces.
