Seem to remember reading online that the x series is to do with the engine and it being a bit better, maybe one is older stock and one has an updated engine

George look at this clip,  the US ones have X on the side cases,  i have no idea what if any differences there may be with these versions and the ones we get here in the UK.

@billpierce he's built them up,   muff modded them and some are moderately ported.  He sells them as 'display models' only as the emission feds (EPA) over there would try to ban the sale if they knew people may try to actually use them!  So you buy one knowing it's strictly for 'display use only' and it's then up to you as to whether you want to break the rules or not...

That is Rich Dougan from the Myrtle Creek saw shop in Oregon. I was working in the fringes of the Tillamook State Forest when I was logging in Oregon, on the other side of the state, and he was well known up in those parts, with many folks sporting his work on saws like this:

Do you remember where you read this? I'd be interested to know the difference or if its just a different sticker.

Joe i'm fairly certain it's merely a sticker with an X on it and that's it really!  Ohh i enquired about importing a new CS2511 from the saw king in Oregon USA but with all the porting and muff mods and postage it came in at over £920 (GBP!)  so i thought better of it!!
