I was looking a while back at a hookaroon to use when splitting. I thought an axe combo would be good for stingy wood but couldn't find anything. I ended up modifying a mattock. It's 15" long and under £9 Anyone else come up with any solutions?Screenshot_20181007-192524.jpeg20181007_114451.jpeg20181007_114447.jpeg

That's been on my to-do list for a while. Does it work well? Funny talking about modifying things about an hour and a half ago I heated up the 4 tines of my hayfork and bent them right angles to make a claw grubber. Got to pull some crap out of a hedge tomorrow.

It reduces the amount of bending when logs drop off the splitter. Easy to stick into lumps. I just need to make a holder for it on the splitter. So far so good.

Like you  I use one of those little 15" mattocks...although mine is a mini pick axe, a mortar pick.  works well for picking up splits from the floor and reduces the bending.  thinking of getting a longer handle for it

the mortar pick/mini mattock?  its a standard tomahawk fitting, that handle i linked should fit perfectly.  I'll get one soon no doubt.
Did you get around to ordering the wooden handle?
