Does anyone have any proper knowledge of running a log splitter on a manitou, I know it works but I’m concerned about the long term damage to the hydraulic pump. You can jam the switch in the cab like operating a shear crab but the oil is on constant pump , so obviously has no return , please no stupid comments back , thanks

Does the manitou, not have two oil fittings on the front?? Thought they all did to be honest

If so when you wedge lever or button find out which one of the two fittings is pumping then put that on the feed side of the splitter and the other pipe will flow back to return using the other fitting on the manitou

Will work but too much heat.

have done this with a mini digger in the past , works great but oil boiling within 20 minutes

Depends on size of hydraulic tank and oil cooler on machine

I powered a fuelwood 360 splitter off a 655c digger for 3yr just ticking over without any problem

We’ve been running a 20ton vertical Binderberger off ours for 3 years we just run it off the hydraulic locking pin circuit on the machine with a flow and return.

we bungee the lever so it gives us constant flow on tick over more than enough flow / power to do the job .

we split roughly 300-350 tons a year. The machine we have is a MT 732.
