BOSE wave music system

Don't know much about the Bose system but we too are looking to buy a family Chrissie present, we've been looking at the Sonus wireless streaming system. Anyone had dealings with these??? They are expensive but it means you can have music in every room of the house all sent by one main unit connected to your router.

I went to a clients house and he had a sonus, but also had the apple ipod remote system ( which i have) and he rated the apple way above Sonus, also on price. With apple you need an airport express for each sound system, then you can play any track from any computer in the house to any sound system. I've played with my brother in laws Sonus and it's good but the apple remote is much more versatile. And of course it works from any iPod you link up and you can take the music out of the house as well.

As I see my self as a true audiophile, I do not agree with wireless systems. To enjoy music properly it must be reproduced as it was intended and recorded. Music is a language of emotion and in order for it to weave its spell on you it has to reach your ears. Many hi-fi systems simply do not allow the music to do this. Instead they filter, alter, corrupt and lose the delicate signal that makes up the music.Bass / treble controls and graphic equalisers are for chavs. Adding wirless connections into this equation means you are not hearing what you should be hearing. Spend more, get more. Dont fall for "gadgets". Buy quality. We buy cars for thousands of pounds that lose thousands of punds of value in very little time and cost massive amounts to run and maintain. Why not spend money on something that still works as good in 15 years time that can constantly go to and enjoy, let your hair down, reminise about past memorys, stir emotions etc etc. Invest in the best.

Very nice system FRANK. What spkrs do you have linked to that rather fine set up? And what is the stand? It was always Target stands years ago?

 

I actually built one in CDT at school- sand filled and with spiked MDF shelves...I was very proud of it at the time as i couldnt afford a 'real' one!

I have a spare Target turntable stand in the garage, with some boots and wellies on it.

 

So, in keeping with my retro 262xp and Willans harness....

 

Michell Gyrodec turntable, AT oc7 cartridge, Helios CD, Lynwood line equaliser, Musical Fidelity speakers and until recently, a Sugden Amp.

 

Amp had a fault again and sick of repair bills so bought a cheap Cambridge Audio from Richer's to replace.

 

Used to have all sorts on borrow/demo, as my brother was a hi fi dealer for a while.

 

Back at the time, the Helios was THE best sub £1000 cd player available, (I ended up with one at trade price).

 

...... but it doesn't sound anything like as nice as the vinyl though.

That is just a teaser, when I get my camera working properly and have 15 minutes I will pop pics of my system up, that pic is the old one which has since been upgraded. Watch this space.

 

I listen to all sorts of music, mainly with a rock influence, but, as long as it is dynamic and not repetitive and played load, most things sound awesome.

 

You need some proven "test" tracks in your collection, to compare systems with, or when you have tweaked anything. I choose :

Heres the speakers I have at the moment, Heybrook HB1's Mk3's. 1993 speaker of the year. Not the most expensive in the world, but handle anything.

 

 

Oh and anyone willing to doubt Naim Audio being the BEST in the world. I have just heard that BENTLEY have just chosen Naim to produce their audio systems. mmmmmm Speaks volumes to me.

Oh and one more thing quickly, speaking of Denon, (for those that who care) I use denon to run my surround sound on the old telly box, and I really cant complain. Good quality kit.
