Whats left of the 60 metre rope I am already climbing on.

I tend to KISS.  Base tie a 60m rope after having pulled through enough of the working end for the task.  I just tie the Hook to the tail end of the line.  The rest of the 60 stays in the rope bag.

I did make a 20metre lanyard to be stored in a ditty bag.  I had great ideas for that as a lanyard or second line when needed. It would have also doubled up for the hook with the cinch to capture progress.

I moved house though and can't remember where I put the bag and the cinch has disappeared.  Oh, the joy!

About 15 m.. I’m pretty lazy like and clip my foot ascender and haas on to traverse but it works pretty mint and quick for big gaps.. longer the better as I’ve found if I’ve advanced it’s can be easier to come back in double rope if the branches you have advanced too don’t allow an easy flick off for the hook.. keeps as many options open as possible.
