I dabbled in MuyThai, boxing, taekwondo, combatives. I trained no gi BJJ for a year and a half. Club was too far from me and the physical toll was affecting my bottom line (knackered next day) so had to pack it in. Great sport for someone who has quick recovery or a sedentary job! Actually, of all the martial arts BJJ has the most in common with tree climbing, many of the movements are cross-compatible, like static pulling, joint flexibility, heel hooking etc. I wear BJJ rash-guard tops for tree work.

Have been training Muay Thai for quite a few years. I started training BJJ last year but haven't been for a while as I twisted my knee.

there is a thread I started years ago in Muay Thai some where on this 'ere forum.

Now I train MT as my 11 year old son started training when he was about 5.  He fights, so as I take him training and its an incentive to train myself.

We went to Thailand training earlier this year for three weeks.  Trained everyday apart from Sunday's, somedays twice a day.  Both kids loved it.

That's pretty much how I got hooked into it - our little one started TKD late last year, after a couple of weeks watching I got sucked in and now do 3 to 5 sessions a week.  It's been tough July-end Aug (because of the drop off in numbers due to hols etc) they have been combining TWD & Kickboxing classes and doing a 2 hour session.  There have been times when I've thought I'm too old for this!!

In summer I typically drink 9-11litres of water a day with tree work and training. To make my life harder I also do weights. Farmers walk with 90kg each arm is good for tree work and grip strength.

I see its merits ( and also felt it) the bonuses of kicks but I've never really got on with K1/ TWDO. Boxing for stand up and BJJ for ground for me.
