Hardwood roundwood wanted - Devon / Cornwall / Somerset

Should any one have 8 wheeler and drag loads of Processor size Hardwood roadside - now or coming up,  please PM me. Can collect if required.

Everything you hear of is going up to Sandwich in Kent and this is going to kill off many independent Firewood suppliers in the South West if it continues.

From what I hear, they are chipping everything from sawlogs to quality Hardwood and many of the Hauliers are feeling ashamed to be shifting it.

How is everyone else managing sourcing timber - I would be interested to hear ?

Yes and here it is in all it's glory - NOT !

They have been hauling timber there all this week from 4 1/2 hours on turnaround and returning empty - 9 hrs on the road - work that one out....      It's shamefull

Here we have another red herring funded by foreign investment.
Apparently they have yet to get it run a full cycle of 28 days without breakdown.

We just haven't the sustainable levels of woodfuel in the UK that this scale of consumption demands.

Have heard all about this today from TCD, unbelievable it is, small business and hand cutters will and are suffering under these companies. Very sad.

It's not a level playing field out there these days.

The smaller independents can't outbid the big boys on standing timber and invariably end up cutting/harvesting for them!

I've been trying to buy roundwood from independents for a long time now, but unfortunately they just can't get the timber.

Surely Estover aren’t paying the same price for this as a firewood merchant would though?

The thing is, they pay a contract price on tonnage and will take whatever timber shows up on the lorries, size, species, soft, hard makes no difference. Flatbeds running in and out of there all day like Ants.
