I'd say you might be better off with a reg coats arb trolley as well..  cost about 4'50 mind but definatly more versatile..  you can put a small dumpy bag on it for blowing chip into if you want..  won't break in half in the first week of use as well..

I'd say it's £70 for a reason!  My dairy farmer cousin bought one very similar for carrying buckets of milk to the calves:  once of smooth concrete it spent more time on its side than upright.  Bits bent, broke, fell off and he abandoned it in a month.

I don't know how tight money is (not very if you can contemplate a new M500!); have you considered an Arb Trolley for which you could build a chip box/cage if you're determined to drag chip out in quantity?

Having extracted said chip you could take the cage off and go back for the logs ?

You are probably right.

pretty much exactly what I need. The correct sized waste bag could be rigged to fit on it for chip also. HOWEVER... the cost is a joke. 400+ for 2 puncture resistant wheels and some welded steel is a piss take.

Yea they ain't cheap, you could make your own if you can weld.. but as someone on another thread pointed out, by the time you've faffed about you'd be as well buying one..

think of it as part of a good toolbox, chainsaw chipper and arb trolley..  your not always gonna chip under the tree as well so the arb trolley can be used to move the branches to the chipper on the drive..

Its like most things that cost a bit but are really handy..  once its bought, you'll soon forget about the price..

Yeah I know what you're saying. I have 2 Belle wheel barrows with puncture resistant tyres at £200+ a pop. 2 years old now both of them and going as strong as ever. Killed me to get them but I did my research and after years of spending £70 every 6 months on a wheel barrow I pulled the trigger and glad I did.

Er - £400 for the Trolley is a piss take but £200 for a wheelbarrow isn't?!

I can't comment on the barrows personally but the Trolleys have been discussed ad infinitum on other threads.

My take on it is that the thing should last you at least 10 years if you don't do completely stupid things with it.

Now £40 p.a. capital investment for a tool that strong and versatile... money well spent perhaps?

Whoever said 200+ for a wheel barrow wasn't a pisstake?

But I agree that it's worth the money. Seen as I can't make it cheaper, which I'm sure they've brainstormed...

I disagree that  you'd get 10 years though. I would say lifetime if you have a welder and aren't frightened of a bit of grease once in a while. Yes it is worth the money!

More money than a little trolly but what about a muck truck or tracked dumper. Can be picked up for cheap. No struggle to load or unload will handle the weight so keep the job going quickly plus you can use it to move logs.

I used to own a hi tip mini dumper. Too heavy, too slow, too easy to smash guttering, bricks etc off peoples house. Conversion from carrying chip to logs take too long. Needs suitable storage, maintenance etc etc etc and costs a hell of a lot more than an arb trolley.
