I’ve only just started using a pole for trees. I was mad not to before. It’s brilliant.

I hope this helps someone kill trees better and make more money.

Poles are indispensable for specified reduction of large spreading trees. They help prune trees better (smaller cuts that no human body can get to) and make a lot more money.

Here's a look at using them:  http://www.historictreecare.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/PolePruning_2008_06-1.pdf

You can even prune adjacent trees:

Yeah i totally get the merits of using poles for certain things.

Good tool to have in the box.

Reading this thread i thought it was gonna disappear up its on arse on the immigration thing again.

Where is matelot?

I dont see eye to eye with him or understand half what he drones on about but he does inspire debate/ridicule/frustration/amazement.

If you're European your good enough for me..

You might as well just go ahead and say if your white your good enough ?

I love poles, they make a hard day an easy day. I like using them to get a line in a second tree (where avaliable) when chogging down and having so much more freedom on the stem.

Not easy I don't think.  Theres a chance of getting them from your local utilities but in my experience these are usually snapped up by their own staff for their pj's

yep thats exactly what i did.  The yard manager used to see me fishing them out of the skip and moan at me for taking them!  I repaired some by shortening them and using a dremel to cut out the locating slots.  I was given a silky saw head, parrot nose pruners (loppers) and a hook by a chap i am friendly with that used to work for WPD. I never use a throw line,  i simply use the poles and hook to set my rope in the tree.
