Stihl FS410c Clutch issue?

Guys

 

Started my FS for the first time for a few months and found that the blade rotated when I pulled the cord and the blade no longer stops when idling, The beast has had hardly any work and up tp now has always been reliable. I ran it and strimmed a load of brambles and knotweed today so it still functions but its defintely not right!

 

Any ideas? My thoughts is that its the clutch stuck on?

How olds the machine? Standing them doesnt always do them good, seals, lines and diaphragms etc can suffer, may be drawing air in somewhere as a result, can sometimes cause an increased idle speed

Rusty clutch?

Sound like something seized/ rusted in the clutch mechanism, split and check.

Been used last in the rain or left out in it

About 4 years old. If the machine is switched off, turning the strimmer blade turns the engine over.

How easy is it to get at the clutch?

You have a bit of rust in your clutch....that's clutch not crutch which is something completely different. You will need to strip it down and strip the clutch, clean off the clutch, apply a bit of grease or copper slip and reassemble. Be OK for a good while then.

Relatively easy if you are mechanically minded, almost impossible if you are an Iphone, jelly brained teenager!

If its the same/similar to my 450, which had a seized clutch. 4 bolts hold clutch housing to engine.
