I have a lwb syncro 4x4 transporter t4 for sale if your interested? I can measure it up for you if you want.

It's the 2.5tdi (think remapped to 130/140bhp). New: engine, head, turbo, injectors, discs, pads, hoses, ecu, viscous coupling (New discs inside also), timing belt, vacuum solenoid, spare wheel, keys, locks, rear wheel bearings, shocks, poly bushes, ball joints, drop links, diff oil, engine oil, filters etc. (Spent a fortune on it as if was going to keep it forever!)

Totally mint underneath (Irish import so no salt), waxoyled well. Bit tatty on outside but no serious rust at all just a bit bubbling, scratches etc. It's done 175k ( engine hasn't, still had over marks when changed) and is y reg.

Owes me 6k in ( no labour), prolly would take a bit less but not much or id keep it. Drives very very well ( can do all hills in 3rd). Has very decent bfg AT's

Sorry (Not sorry) for shameless ad!20180512_142809.jpg20180513_115734.jpg20180512_145026.jpg20180512_145053.jpg20180512_145014.jpg

I've just bought a 2012 Sprinter 4x4 and first impressions are very good. It's getting prepared for forestry work, so has thus far been remapped to 160bhp (with much more torque for towing), has had AT tyres fitted and been undersealed. Lots more to do, but it'll hopefully make an ideal forestry truck by the time it's done. Seems very economical too (33-34mpg at a guess, driving around unloaded) and remapped, it's brisk now.

I should add as well that I've had a tow bar fitted as it came from a wind turbine engineer who had it from new and never towed with it. Full Mercedes service history too.

I'll be getting the towing capacity uprated (on paper) with SV Tech so it will legally be able to tow 2800kg. Literally all it takes is to fit an appropriate tow car and send the receipts to SV Tech and for £260 plus VAT your capacity goes up from 2000kg to 2800kg. A daft paper exercise.

Regarding capabilities, I am led to believe that the 4x4 Sprinter is the only van (save for the Delica, which is not quite a commercial van) that is truly capable off road. The ground clearance is immense, and with it being 2wd in normal operation, your MPG doesn't suffer. The chap I bought it from said that one of the last jobs he took it on was visiting a wind farm near Fort William (highest in the country) where is plowed through 3ft of snow easily on road tyres.

He was telling porkies, me knows, 3' of snow on road tyres??

Had it been compacted down to a solid layer before he drove over it?
