I read somewhere that one of the main differences between a climbing helmet and a ground helmet was the breaking point of the chinstrap. For what I remember the climbing helmet had a chinstrap with a significantly higher breaking strain designed to prevent the chin strap from snapping in the event of a fall and being tossed about whereas the ground helmet’s strap is designed to break much sooner to prevent choking if it was to become caught on something (brash being dragged into chipper for example) that said I wear my climbing helmet on the ground without the strap-on [emoji6]
