How far down did you fold the end mate? Did you get all of the fibres in? Looks like not all of them are out from the large eye?

The eyes look bang on though mate!!

Alright Tommy. That picture is of my previous one, the fid slipped threw without pulling all the stands out, but tonights one is better I just can't get the cross over threw, fid stuck again!! I even tapered the cover strands on the cross over, also milked it so I had lots of room. Its got to be the fact its used rope that's all I can think of.

id put money on the fact your snagging fibres

Maybe john but I was extra carful when inserting my fid and checked for resistance etc. This is the 3rd one where I can't get threw on the cross over and have to cut it open to get my fid out. Maybe I'm just a poof who can yank it threw Lol

Tie it off to an anchor. I use the tow hitch on my truck.

Get a decent length of rope and then attach the fid to that. Shock the bugger by whipping it up and then pulling with momentum and body weight and it should pop out.

I have caught strands before and still got the fid out. I did pull about 3-4 strands out and had to mik them back in but it is doeable. If your hands are sore, wait till the morning hen you are fresh.

I also wear gripper gloves for this.

Its knackered my back more than my hands, its a tough old job! What I have is a floor mounted bike lock in my shed so I tie it to that and then use a axe handle with a sling and krab on the other end to shock it, I'm going to pop in and see tommy on my way home from rec climb today he can tell me where I have gone wrong.

Tommy will tell you that you need bleached blonde hair and a sausage dog to be a successful spliced... ;)

What that's not the secret! I look like a fat gay eminem now.
