My splicing attempts

So I was given a Safety Technology rope to splice yesterday, do they make it or do Marlow? Anyway I followed the Marlow Braid instructions but as it was a pretty worn rope I had to taper the cover a little more than usual and it was still pretty tough, i think a new one of these ropes would be very easy.

Another type under the belt.

Nice looking splice, have you disected it yet to work out what the little wobble is, on the lower side of the eye?

Hmm, taking it apart would kind of defeat the object of the exercise but as I just spliced it I know that the 'wobble' is where the core is wrapped in tape inside the cover, on a new rope it would be smoother as it wouldn't bunch up like it has on the old rope pictured.
