Nice anchor frame

Wish my kitchen was big enough to fit that in

Where did you get it from and what use did it have.

Ps is it really stiff now you finally got it in.

I would imagine it will be hard to whip:thumbup:

Thanks Bob, I got the tripod off a customer ages ago, he was going to throw it out until I showed an interest. Comes in handy testing new knots and hitches!

I think it used to be used in rescue and access to drains/potholes.

As for the splice, no way a needle will go through apart from about 2" down from the eye. Will that be ok?

This the kind of thing your thinking of gibbon? It's 16 strand endless loop splice.5ec322db-f05c-f7d7.jpg

Nice work Collin, marlow ropes are a nightmare to do. The braided core on the 16 strands makes them bloody awkward!!

Not sure if I've posted this before but here's a multisaver I make.5ec322db-f0d6-aada.jpg

Nothing exciting. Just spliced the other end of my blaze long lanyard so I can use it as a double ended lanyard to move up the tree.

Also, this is probably as good a place to ask as any, what is the deal with splices being passed by loler inspectors? Are they usually ok with it? Do they even notice it is your own splice and can they tell the difference between one of my splices and one done in a shop like honeys or treeworker?

I was hoping they would be ok with it as long as it was stronger than a bowline or double fishermans. If neccessary I would happily get some of my splices break tested..:thumbup1:

Here's one of my new ropeguides I've made myself too. Although I'm hoping to have a much improved version in the near future??!

Do you find it hard to retrieve, with out the 'cone' on top of the cocoon?

I use a part of a funnel on the top of my cocoon covered in tape.. looks pretty rough but works for now (also the hose helps retrieval) until I get a proper cone piece from Drew :thumbup1:

As long as you put some shrink tube around the stitched area and put this as close to the cocoon as you can then it retrieves sweet as!! I've not managed to get it stuck yet and believe me I've been trying!! Haha. In saying that though I've just recieved my drew b cone so time for an improved version me thinks!! Haha.
