It is a locking Brummell splice mate, I've done both ends now and redone the original as the bury was not quite long enough, I used a needle do the turns and then a snare wire to do the bury, very simple very easy and loads better than I'd ever imagine on the throwpod!! Nice one, a google has just led me to a hammock forum with step by step photos that has de-mystified it.

 

It's got a paper clip in it, but I reckon I'll still have to use tweezers!

I did mine with a needle. Didn't bother with a locking brummel. I just did a straight bury and it only broke last week with my full weight hanging on it to try to get it unstuck!!

 

 

 

Sound. I think some lines are 4-500 kgs breaking load..?

 

Out of interest, where did it break. As in the eye or after the splice on the straight line?

It managed to get caught on all sorts but the splice held and it broke on a straight part, nowhere near the splice

Does anyone know a good taper for cougar blue? Did one the other day with a 4 4 6 4 and struggled (it was litely used so that may of been something to do with it)

I think you'll find a straight bury is stronger than a locking Brummell, but not as secure.

I just use a standard DB splice, with no problems whatsoever. It was new rope though.
