Try someone like A-plant or Chevron...... they'll come out and deal with the whole shooting match of all the signing lighting and guarding, which means you won't have to worry about it.

Trouble is they'll probably charge you iro £750-1,000 per day!

Failing that, have a chat with your local highway authority, and see what they suggest. If the highways contract is outsourced to someone like Amey etc, then they'll probably have their own teams in-house.

You can get traffic control in we have at work once, think it was expensive though they set it all up and pack it away after, they also can stop traffic both ways which is handy, stop and go boards work but I think they dont have to be obeyed by the motorist by law, so if they want they can just ignore you, only had a couple do that on me before mind you just gave them the bird on their way past lol. not sure what companys do traffic control near you though.

You need all sorts of quals to do it. Just ring up a traffic management company, get a price put it on your quote. Last guys I had in charged me £350 ish for a morning. I just passed this onto the customer.

As others have said the liability to yourselves and the public is huge, not worth risking IMO.
