Ash removals are starting in Mid Devon at the end of next week.  It's literally 4 miles down the hill from me at Bickleigh where Chalara was brought into Devon on root stock from over seas. 60 tree are coming out to begin with.  be interesting to see where this goes in the future.

It was on BBC Radio Devon the other day, the interview starts at 1hr 17secs      http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p05s14t0
Gutted. That's just down the road from my mother, and where I grew up:- Tiverton area.

I wonder what'll happen to all the timber, it would be a real shame if it all goes to firewood. It's such good wood to make stuff with as well as for burning. I think this will be a very common scene in years to come as there's going to be an awful lot of ash felling going on unfortunately. Hopefully some will be saved from the flames.
