Having a new digger priced up at the moment, we have opted for the largest one we can tow that has the best reach/dump on the market. 

 

Without boring you all witht he spreadsheet with the specs of pretty much every model on the market, the KX71-3 comes out on top, its been replaced by KX040-3.

 

It has an option of 'high spec' which gives :

 

 

Im waiting on the extra cost, would this be a useful feature ?

 

We will keep the machine for 10 years so want to get it right, a couple extra grand now for something we may not use now but could be useful in future would be no problem.

Depends what you’re planning on running off it. Definitely a second auxiliary service is almost essential if your planning on running grabs and rotators- proportional control is almost a must otherwise it’s an all or nothing affair- giving you so much more control over opening and closing grabs/rotating etc. like you say depends on cost. Surely the kx040-4 is the replacement for the 4 ton kx121 isn’t it? The kx71 is under 3 ton....

Surely that kx040-4  is a 4 tonne digger, so how are you towing it, or, have you air brakes on a 50mm ball hitch trailer, or curious why are you limited to that weight class if not a air-braked 50mm ball hitch equipped trailer.

As far as I know there is no easy way to tow a 4 ton digger short of lorry or tractor and trailer/mog The yanks tow their 4-5tonners behind dodge rams and the like, unfortunately we are not blessed with such setups in this country.

I may be wrong but do the kubota cut all other services when tracking making them rubbish for arb work,

The new kx027-4 seems to be rated fairly well...or there is the Takeuchi Tb230fr which is a quality machine...wouldn't consider anything other than Kubota or takeuchi[emoji108]

Also u will want Rhinox buckets with your machine www.rhinox-group.com or specify through the dealer...best buckets out there [emoji123][emoji6]

she has two pumps now so multitasking easier

Comes with stricklands buckets, we have them on the 5 tonner and the telehandler. They are ok.

 

I did look at the taki but its not quite as good in terms of reach, dump etc its also a lot more 'agricultural' shall we say. Not that that is a bad thing!

 

The 27 is a good machine as well just a bit smaller. looking to max out the trailer ! It's going on an Indespension Alumax (unladen 580kg) so with the buckets on the tipper and extra air in the tyres will just about be legal!
